"Brie" finished her championship quite a while after her brother "Brut". When Brie was a 12-week old puppy, she was "butt-tucking" around the living room completely out of control and struck the inside of her right hock on the brick hearth and shattered the bone. She was in a cast for 8 weeks. During this time, her leg muscles atrophied and it was believed that she would always limp. But we put her on an exercise program involving swimming that seemed to help. She managed to avoid limping in a couple of shows long enough to pick up a 3-point major and a single point before we gave up on her show career. When we moved to Georgia when Brie was 4 years old, we bought a house with a pool. Brie was in the water every day! We put her on a natural anti-inflammatory called GlycoFlex, and we (Greg, actually -- Tricia really cut him off the champagne after this!) decided to give her one more chance to finish her championship. Brie was sent to Florida to stay with and be shown by the Grandas (Grandquest Labradors). The first weekend there, Brie won shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -- 2 points for each show. Brie now needed only five points to finish! She picked up a single a month later, and then finished with a 4-point major the day before Tricia's birthday!

Brie developed late onset diabetes when she was 11 years old, and we lost her at 12. We miss her tremendously even now, four years later (in 2007). Brie's pedigree is the same as Brut's, but we decided to have her very own here also.
